Smelleze® pouches start working right away to draw out the dead animal decomposition odor-causing chemicals like a strong magnet and to eliminate them permanently. They are engineered to work continuously 24/7 until your problem is solved. However, you might not notice the difference immediately because it’s absorbing the odors rather than releasing a scent to mask it temporarily like an air freshener. But rest assured, you’ll smell the difference soon enough and feel better about breathing cleaner air.
Although Smelleze® begins to eliminate the ‘death’ odor causing chemicals immediately the total time it takes to solve the problem will be dependent upon the following factors:
Whether the dead animal has been found and removed.
If the dead animal has not been found (e.g. it’s in a wall or duct) and removed, it will keep decomposing to produce new odors for 6-12 weeks depending on the size. So the Smelleze® pouches will be working double duty to remove both the newly produced odors and old odors during this time until the decomposition is complete. As a result, you will have to keep using and reusing the Smelleze® pouches until the odor source is permanently gone.
How quickly the odors are released from the decomposing animal.
The quicker the dead animal decomposes, the quicker they will be absorbed and eliminated by the Smelleze® pouches.
The amount of Smelleze® pouches that are used.
It’s important to make sure that you using the correct amount of Smelleze® pouches for the area you are treating since these are absorbent products. We recommend using at least 1 pouch/ 150 square feet or more. Using less than the suggested amount of pouches will extend the time it takes to solve the problem and lead to disappointing results.
Physical factors such as air flow, temperature, humidity will affect how quickly the Smelleze® pouches work. For e.g. if it’s hot, the dead animal will decompose faster but will create more odors. Using a fan to increase air circulation or placing the Smelleze® pouches on air vents will accelerate the odor removal process.
Rejuvenate the pouches according to the severity of the problem (see below) for the best and fastest results
The important thing to remember is that the Smelleze® pouches will outlast your problem because they can be rejuvenated according to the following schedule and reused as long as it takes to completely eliminate your odor problem.
Strong Odor: Rejuvenate once a week
Medium Odor: Rejuvenate once every 2 weeks
Weak Odor: Rejuvenate once a month
Maintenance: Rejuvenate once a quarter (3 months)
To rejuvenate, simply heat in in your microwave for 2-3 minutes or expose to direct sunlight for a day. It’s as easy as that!
