Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to consult with us about the ostomy odor problem. You can take the following action to protect yourself against accidental urine leakage and smell quickly and effectively.
How to Capture & Prevent Ostomy Odor
Firstly, I would recommend using Smelleze® Ostomy Bag Deodorizer Granules to prevent embarrassing ostomy odors. Simply sprinkle less than a half a teaspoon of the granules in the ostomy or colostomy bag to solidify and deodorize the contents and smell the difference, It’s as easy as that!
Furthermore, you can use SmellRid™ Carbon Stoma Odor Eliminator Patches. This is a 4 inch X 4 inch odor removal charcoal patch that has adhesive strips on the back. You can just attach it to your ostomy bag or undergarments to absorb and eliminate odors during the day. You may use it by itself or in conjunction with the Smelleze® Ostomy Bag Deodorizer Granules.
For best results, I would recommend using both products together so you can benefit from the dual protection they offer especially during stressful social situations.
How to Eliminate Ostomy Odor from Bathrooms & Home:
I would suggest using Smelleze® Reusable Nursing Home Smell Deodorizer Pouches to eliminate ostomy odor around the home. For a breath of fresh air, simply place Smelleze® pouches in bathrooms and any rooms with a strong ostomy odor. If you have a HVAC forced air system, you may also place the Smelleze® pouches on your return air vents, and/or in front of the air return duct in your furnace (if there is room) to filter the odors out faster. Overall, use one pouch for every 150 square feet of area treated and smell the difference. You can use additional pouches for areas with severe odors. The Smelleze® pouches can be rejuvenated by exposing to direct sunlight for a day or microwaving for 2-3 minutes and reused over and over until all the odors are eliminated. They are engineered to outlast the problem and can be reused for years. So they will save you money since you won’t need to buy replacement pouches.
How to Prevent Ostomy Odor in Trash Cans
Use Smelleze® Diaper Pail Smell Deodorizer Granules in the trash bin to control ostomy odors from discarded ostomy bags and accessories. Simply sprinkle Smelleze® in the garbage pails and smell the difference. For extra odor protection, you may also add to the trash pail between changes. It will eliminate tough ostomy smell and keep surrounding areas smelling fresher longer.
How to Eliminate Ostomy Odor from Soiled Clothing & Bedding:
To get the ostomy odor out from your washable clothes and bedding, you may use Odoreze™ Natural Laundry Deodorizing Additive Concentrate. You can simply add 1-2 teaspoons to your regular detergent in the wash machine to eliminate the odor from the smelly clothes while doing your laundry. For items with really severe odors, you may first soak the odor laden clothing in Odoreze™ (diluted 1-2 teaspoons/gallon) overnight and then wash them with your regular detergent plus Odoreze™ in your wash machine. As an added benefit, you can also just add Odoreze™ to your regular cleaning product or just water to mop the floor or spray and clean any hard surface with urine odors.
Odoreze™ is sold as a concentrate and a single 16 oz. bottle can make 64 gallons. This averages to only paying 45 cents/gallon for a natural odor remover that works. Most store bought ready to use deodorizers contain over 95% water and that’s what you’re paying for. When we supply the Odoreze™ concentrate and you supply the water, you save big. Odoreze™ is also an eco-smart odor remover that is safe for people, pets, and the planet. It’s engineered to eliminate the targeted odor at its source naturally without masking with harmful fragrances or using toxic chemicals.
